An afternoon at the studio table
A 6-hour ceramics workshop in Marta’s Edinburgh studio. You’ll build small treasure boxes and a cake slice from white clay, with your hands. No rush, no clay experience needed.
The afternoon, in shape
We work with clay all in one session, using handbuilding techniques — one of the calmest ways to learn ceramics. By the end of the day you’ll have decorated a small set of pieces, ready for the kiln.
What you’ll make, in your own way:
- Cake slice treasure boxes — sculpted to look like a slice of cake, with a lid that lifts off and a hollow inside for trinkets
- Muffin keepsake boxes — small lidded muffin shapes with a sculpted, decorated top
- Small dishes, candle holders, or a related hand-built piece inspired by the same theme

What’s included
Your £85 ticket includes clay, materials, use of tools, aprons, step-by-step tuition in a small group, and firing of your finished pieces. There are no hidden costs.
Finished pieces
Your work will need to dry, be fired, glazed in a transparent finish, and fired again after the workshop. Pieces are usually ready for collection approximately 2–3 weeks later, and you’ll be notified when they are ready.
Who it’s for
Beginners are very welcome — no previous pottery experience is needed. The session is small and relaxed, with individual guidance throughout.
Group size
This workshop is kept intentionally small, with up to 6 places available for direct booking.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations are accepted up to 7 days before the workshop date for a full refund. Unfortunately, cancellations made within 7 days of the event cannot be refunded, as preparation and materials will already have been arranged.
