A pair of wool needle-felted ladybirds in vibrant red and warm yellow, each about 7 cm tall, with poseable wire legs that let them stand on a shelf, perch on a plant pot or hold a small object. Buy one, the other, or both as a pair. Made in our Scottish studio.
The making: Each ladybird is sculpted around a polyester core wrapped in richly coloured merino wool, then needle-felted into shape. A fine wire skeleton runs through the legs so they can be bent and adjusted; the antennas are wire dipped in wool. Black spots are felted in by hand, not printed — so each spot has a slightly different shape.
How it looks: A glossy red ladybird with deep black spots, and a sunshine-yellow ladybird with the same black markings; both finished with small coloured boots and curling wire antennas. Soft heathered wool surface, dense and resilient rather than fluffy.
Use it for:
- Perched on a desk or bookshelf as a tiny mascot
- In a child’s nursery or Waldorf play area (handle gently — not for very young children)
- Tucked into a houseplant pot as a small wool visitor
- A small token gift for a gardener or insect-lover
- A pair gift for siblings or a long-married couple
A considered gift for a wool-felt-collector, a gardener or someone with a soft spot for ladybirds — birthdays, Mother’s Day, or simply because. Wool with wire legs — handle gently.
Care: Spot clean only — do not submerge in water.
Size:
- Approximately 7 cm tall each
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
