A wall-hung entryway piece built from a single panel of an old salvaged door — sanded back to its natural wood grain, sealed with antique pine wax, and fitted with a mirror and five horseshoe-nail key hooks.
The making: Repurposed in Scotland from one of four panels lifted from an authentic vintage door. The panel is sanded down to reveal the original wood grain, sealed with antique pine wax (which adds water resistance and a soft amber glow), fitted with a mirror inset, backed with decorative wallpaper, and finished with five rustic key hooks made from real horseshoe nails. Each piece is one-of-a-kind because the wood grain decides.
How it looks: Warm honey-pine tones with the original panel mouldings and grain patterns running across the surface, the antique wax pulling a soft amber sheen out of the wood. A clean rectangular mirror sits in the centre, the iron horseshoe-nail hooks lined along the bottom, and the wallpaper backing peeks at the edges. Reads warm against a white wall, layered against a stone or sage one.
Use it for:
- An entryway or hallway with keys, lanyards and a dog lead
- A mudroom hook for scarves, bags and a last-second mirror check
- A bedroom wall with necklaces and a jewellery dish
- A gift for someone moving into a flat that needs character on the walls
- A small landing or porch where you want function without losing wall space
A considered gift for the friend setting up a new flat — housewarmings, birthdays, or simply because.
Care: Dust with a soft cloth; the antique wax finish is water-resistant but avoid heavy moisture and re-wax every couple of years to refresh.
Size:
- 37 cm wide x 79 cm tall x 4.5 cm thick
- 5 horseshoe-nail key hooks
- Antique pine wax finish
- Ready to hang
- Salvaged piece — small variations are part of the character
