A 1-metre reclaimed-wood centrepiece holding ten tealights, hand-finished from 100-year-old rafter timber by our maker in Scotland.
The making: Cut from authentic 100-year-old pine rafter timber rescued from a historic building. Ten tealight wells are routed into the top surface by hand, each sized to take a standard tealight cup. The routed edges expose the lighter inner wood against the darker, weather-aged outer surface. The whole piece is finished by hand with a clear wax that protects the timber while letting the original grain, character marks, and old nail holes show.
How it looks: A 1-metre length of pine 10.5 cm wide and 5 cm tall — long, low, and architectural. The reclaimed surface carries a century of marks: grain shifts, hairline cracks, the soft sheen of old wax. Each tealight well frames a pale-cream inner ring against the darker outer wood. With ten tealights lit, it casts a long, low band of warm light down the centre of a table.
Use it for:
- Centrepiece running the length of a dining table for dinner with friends
- Sat along a mantelpiece for an autumn or winter evening
- Window-sill lighting through the darker months
- Sets the table for a wedding breakfast, anniversary dinner or Christmas Eve
- A hygge-style centrepiece left out year-round, lit or unlit
A considered gift for a couple settling into a long dining table, a hygge-loving friend, or anyone hosting a candlelit dinner — housewarmings, weddings, anniversaries or simply because.
Care: Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth if needed and dry immediately. Reapply clear wax occasionally. Indoor use only — keep dry and never leave lit tealights unattended.
Size:
- Length 100 cm • Width 10.5 cm • Height 5 cm
- Holds 10 standard tealights (not included)
- Reclaimed wood — each piece carries its own unique grain and character marks
