A set of four small handmade ceramic espresso mugs with handles, lace-textured and finished in glossy white, made in our Scottish studio.
The making: Each mug is individually shaped from grey clay. Before firing, a piece of real lace is rolled into the clay surface, leaving a soft floral pattern impressed into the wall of the mug. The pieces are bisque-fired, then brushed with a glossy white glaze — inside and out — and fired again. A small comfortable handle is attached to each.
How it looks: Bright glossy white that picks up the lace pattern in low relief — you read the floral texture as much by feeling it under your thumb as by looking at it. The handles are small and rounded, suitable for an espresso grip rather than a mug-hug.
