Francesca the Lilac Fairy

A wool felted hanging fairy in lilac, with ginger braided hair and flower detail, made by hand by Fabode’s mother in Scotland.

The making. Each fairy is needle-felted from natural wool by Fabode’s mother. A pipe-cleaner skeleton runs through the body so her arms and stance can be gently posed. Lilac and purple wool forms her dress and wings; her ginger hair is plaited into a small braid and tucked with delicate felted flowers. A long, fine golden string is attached at the top of her head so she can be hung at the height you choose.

How it looks and feels. Francesca stands approximately 20 cm tall — one of the taller fairies in the set. The purple of her dress sits warm against the ginger of her hair, with the small flowers reading as accents within the braid. The needle-felted surface is softly fuzzy under the fingers, and the wire inside lets her position be subtly adjusted when handled.
