A three-piece terracotta bathroom set — toothbrush holder, soap dish with drainage, and small trinket tray — hand-built in our Scottish studio in a reactive blue, white and brownish glaze.
The making: Each piece is hand-built from terracotta clay rather than thrown on a wheel. A reactive glaze is brushed on — once fired, it breaks across the surface differently depending on where the clay was thicker, so each set comes out unique. The soap dish has small holes pierced through the base by hand so water drains through rather than pooling. The maker’s logo is stamped on the underside of each piece.
How it looks: Warm terracotta clay showing through at the edges, with the reactive glaze settling into pale blue, chalk-white and brown patches across each surface. The finish reads as aged rather than glossy — closer to old farmhouse pottery than new bathroom ware. The soap dish sits low and shallow; the toothbrush holder is straight-sided; the trinket tray is small enough for a ring and an earring.
