A small family of three wool needle-felted hedgehogs — a little boy with a ball, a young girl clutching flowers, and a father in a green-and-white gingham ribbon. Buy individually, or as the full family of three. Made in our Scottish studio.
The making: Each hedgehog is sculpted around a resilient polyester core, then needle-felted layer by layer with coloured merino wool to build the body and spines. The flowers in the girl’s hand are wrapped over wire stems, so they bend and shape as you like. Every piece is handmade, so each character carries their own personality and small differences.
How it looks: Soft heathered browns and warm creams for the spines and faces, with each hedgehog distinguished by a single detail — a green-and-white gingham ribbon on the father, a tiny pink-flower posy in the daughter’s hand, a small wool ball at the boy’s feet. Soft to the touch, with the dense character of properly felted wool rather than fluff.
