A set of six small ceramic heart magnets in a soft pastel red, hand-shaped and glazed in our Scottish studio.
The making: Each heart is hand-cut from grey clay and bisque-fired in a kiln to set the shape. The hearts are then painted with a soft red underglaze, covered with a transparent glaze, and fired a second time for a glossy, hard-wearing finish. A small neodymium magnet is glued to the back of each one.
How it looks: Six little hearts in a warm, dusty pastel red — deeper than a Valentine’s pillar-box red, softer than a tomato. The glossy clear glaze catches the light and the cut edges show a faint hand-pressed line, so no two hearts are quite identical in outline.
Use it for:
- Holding photographs and notes on a kitchen fridge
- A small Valentine’s, anniversary or new-baby gift
- Pinning recipe cards or shopping lists in plain sight
- Clipping artwork to a magnetic notice board in a child’s room
- Splitting the set as small party favours or stocking fillers
