A handmade pine storage box, made from reclaimed timber by our maker in Scotland.
The making: Cut from recycled pine, assembled into an open rectangular box and finished with antique pine wax, which deepens the grain and makes the wood moderately water-resistant. The piece is intentionally rustic — small marks and slight imperfections from the original timber are left visible rather than sanded out, which is part of why each box looks different.
How it looks: A long, low rectangular open-topped box in warm waxed pine. The grain runs visibly along the length, and the colour reads as a soft mid-brown with occasional knots and tool marks.
Use it for:
- A kitchen herb planter on a windowsill (line with plastic before planting)
- An entryway tray for keys, gloves and post
- A bedside or sofa-arm catch-all for books and remotes
- A bathroom shelf for rolled towels or a small soap dish
- A housewarming or wedding gift for someone moving into a first home
A considered gift for the friend who values reclaimed materials — housewarmings, weddings, or simply because.
Care: Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Wax finish; moderately water-resistant but not for outdoor use.
Size:
- 41 cm long x 18 cm wide x 9.5 cm tall
- Handmade from reclaimed pine — grain, tone and small imperfections vary between pieces
