A set of four small ceramic heart magnets in a warm turquoise-green glaze, hand-built in our Scottish studio.
The making: Each heart is rolled flat from grey clay and cut by hand with a small heart-shaped cutter — the slight variation in edge thickness is intentional. Once bisque-fired, the turquoise-green glaze is brushed on by hand; it settles smoothly across the surface with a satin sheen. A neodymium magnet is glued securely to the back of each piece after the second firing.
How it looks: Four soft mid-sized hearts at roughly 3.5 cm square, in a warm turquoise that sits between green and blue depending on the light. The glaze finish is smooth rather than glossy, almost stone-like, with each heart slightly different in tone. Quieter than a Valentine pink — these read as adult rather than sweet.
Use it for:
- Holding handwritten notes or thank-you cards to the fridge
- Pinning photos to a magnetic noticeboard in a hallway or office
- A tucked-in extra inside a Valentine’s, birthday or anniversary card
- Stuck to a metal filing cabinet at work for a calmer corner
