Bella the Pink Fairy

A wool felted hanging fairy in pink, made by hand by Fabode’s mother in Scotland.

The making. Each fairy is needle-felted from natural wool by Fabode’s mother. A pipe-cleaner skeleton runs through the body so the arms and stance can be gently posed; the pink wool forms her dress and bodice, and her hair, hands, and face are felted in finer detail on top. A long, fine golden string is attached at the top of her head so she can be hung at the height you choose.

How it looks and feels. Bella stands approximately 16 cm tall in soft, layered pink wool, with the slightly fuzzy surface of needle-felted fibres rather than a knitted or sewn finish. The wire inside lets her position shift slightly when handled — she isn’t a rigid ornament. The golden string reads as a fine thread when she’s hung, so the eye lands on her and not the hanger.
