A small ceramic gingerbread man and four glazed hearts on a hand-cut magnetic board — a festive set made by hand in our Scottish studio.
The making: Each piece is shaped from terracotta clay and hand-painted with underglaze. The hearts are glazed in white, yellow, light blue and light green; the gingerbread man is left unglazed for a chalky, biscuit-coloured finish. After firing, a strong magnet is glued to the back of each piece. The 12 cm metal board is hand-cut, drilled, painted black and sealed with varnish, then strung with jute for hanging.
How it looks: A warm gingerbread-brown figure with simple painted features, set against a matte black board. The four little hearts add soft pops of cream, buttercup, sky and sage. The board reads almost like a tiny chalkboard — but it’s intended for the magnets only, not for chalk.
Use it for:
- Hanging in a kitchen or hallway as a small festive picture
- Resetting the layout through the year — hearts for Valentine’s, gingerbread at Christmas
- Sitting the gingerbread man on the fridge as an Advent countdown anchor
- A stocking-sized Christmas gift for a friend who hosts
- Adding a handmade detail to a child’s bedroom or playroom
A considered gift for someone who likes a little festive ceramic without the kitsch — stocking fillers, hostess gifts, or simply because.
Care: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the wooden-feeling varnished board.
Size:
- Board: 12 cm × 12 cm
- Gingerbread man: approximately 7.5 cm head to toe
- Hearts: approximately 2.5 cm
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
