A handmade ceramic heart garland in deep satin matte red — nine small heart-shaped ornaments strung on jute, made from grey clay in our Scottish workshop.
The making: Each heart is cut from rolled grey clay, smoothed by hand, and fitted with a small metal hanger before firing. After the first firing, a satin matte red glaze is brushed over each piece and fired again. The hearts are then threaded individually along a single length of jute yarn, evenly spaced.
How it looks: Nine small hearts in a deep, soft brick-red — satin matte rather than glossy, so the colour reads warm and grounded rather than sharp. The grey clay shows quietly along the edges where the glaze thins. Natural honey-coloured jute carries the whole thing.
Use it for:
- Hung along a mantelpiece for Valentine’s or winter
- Strung across a Christmas tree as a deeper-red alternative to baubles
- Looped over a kitchen dresser or shelf year-round
- Tied across the foot of a bedhead for a soft romantic touch
- Gifted as a small Valentine’s, anniversary or wedding present
A considered gift for a partner, a long friendship, or for a wedding morning where you want one warm touch of red — Valentine’s, anniversaries, weddings, or simply because.
Care: Wipe hearts gently with a dry cloth; keep jute string dry.
Size:
- Overall length: approximately 1.4 m (heart to heart)
- Each heart: 4 × 4 cm
- 9 hearts total on jute string
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
