An oversized handmade ceramic mug with a generous 1 litre capacity — enough for a proper morning coffee, an unhurried tea, or a deep bowl of soup or hot chocolate without refilling.
The making: Hand-built in our Scottish studio using the slabbing technique, then fired to 1240°C for strength and longevity. Small variations in thickness, glaze pooling and clay texture are part of the character — no two are identical.
How it looks: Finished with an off-white interior; outside, a striking split of deep red on one side and metallic copper on the other, hand-built from grey stoneware clay flecked with small black stones. The front carries an off-white glazed “R” with a light brown undertone and brown speckles — a small personal touch that makes the mug feel like yours.
Use it for:
- A really generous morning coffee or tea
- Slow weekend hot chocolate by the window
- Soup, porridge or noodles when you want a mug, not a bowl
- A statement desk mug for the home-office worker who is tired of constant refills
- Even as a small decorative plant pot or pen holder
A thoughtful birthday or housewarming gift for the pottery collector or coffee lover who appreciates one really good handmade piece over a shelf of ordinary mugs.
Care: Microwave and dishwasher safe. Avoid sudden temperature changes (no oven, no freezer-to-boiling-water).
Size:
- Capacity: approx. 1 litre (custom 800 ml also available on request)
- Hand-built stoneware ceramic, fired at 1240°C
