A set of three small Christmas pendant ornaments in terracotta clay with a mauve-pink slip and scratched folk-art detail, handmade in our Scottish studio. Hung on chocolate-brown hemp string.
The making: Each ornament is shaped by hand from terracotta clay before bisque-firing. A soft mauve-pink slip is brushed across the front; the design is then scratched through the slip back to the natural terracotta beneath (sgraffito). A clear glaze is brushed over and the pieces are fired again. Hand-tied chocolate-brown hemp string is threaded through for hanging.
How it looks: Three little 6.5 cm pendants in dusty mauve-pink with the warm terracotta clay showing through the scratched folk patterns. The clear glaze gives a soft satin sheen rather than full gloss. Together they read as quietly rustic rather than shiny Christmas — closer to a Scandi-folk tree than a department store one.
