A handmade ceramic leaf dish — real leaf pressed into grey clay, then glazed in olive green with dark brown and blue breaks, made in our Scottish studio.

The making: Each dish starts with a real leaf pressed into a slab of grey clay to capture the vein pattern and outline. The clay is cut and shaped around the impression, dried, bisque fired, hand-glazed and fired again at 1240°C. Because every leaf is different and every glaze pour falls a little differently, no two dishes are the same.

How it looks: A rich olive green base with dark brown and slate blue breaks running from the rim into the centre. The leaf veins sit slightly raised under the glossy finish and the colours pool darker where the glaze thickens.

Use it for:

  • Holding keys, rings and earrings on a hallway console or bedside table
  • A spoon rest beside the hob while you cook
  • A soap dish on a stone or wooden bathroom shelf
  • Catching loose change or hairpins on a dresser
  • A considered handmade gift for a new home, a friend who loves botanicals, or a gardener

A calm, useful piece for someone who appreciates handmade ceramics in earthy, woodland-leaning tones — housewarmings, birthdays, or simply because.

Care: Hand wash recommended — avoid soaking or dishwasher.

Size:

  • 22 cm long × 19 cm wide
  • Grey stoneware clay, fired to 1240°C
  • Handmade — small variations in shape and glaze are part of the character
