A handmade wool needle-felted hedgehog with a pink flower nestled in her spikes, made in our Scottish studio by Fabode’s mother.
The making: Built from merino wool over a polyester core. Each spike is felted individually — not glued or stitched on — so the hedgehog has the same fuzzy texture across her whole body. Worked with a barbed felting needle until the fibres compact into a soft but firm sculpture. Roughly 12 cm long, sized to sit in the palm of the hand.
How it looks: Black and white wool sculpted into a tiny, rounded creature with a small pink wool flower tucked between her spikes. The surface is softly fuzzy rather than spiky — every fibre is wool, so she’s pleasant to hold. Her face has the shy, slightly hopeful expression that pulls children and adults in equally.
Use it for:
- Sitting on a bookshelf, mantelpiece or windowsill as a quiet ornament
- Doubling as a pin cushion on a sewing table — the spikes hold pins well
- A small gift for someone collecting handmade animals or Waldorf decor
- A piece of nursery decor for a child’s room
- Given to anyone who loves hedgehogs — and there are more of them than you’d think
A considered gift for a hedgehog lover, a child starting a collection, or a friend who needs something small and cheering — birthdays, get-well gifts, or simply because.
Care: Spot clean only — do not submerge in water.
Size:
- Approximately 12 cm long
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
