A handmade ceramic soap dish and toothbrush holder set in white glaze, made from grey groggy clay by our maker in Scotland.
The making: Both pieces are hand-built from grey groggy clay — a clay with small dark inclusions — then glazed white and kiln-fired. The little black stones in the clay show faintly through the white glaze as flecks across the surface. The soap dish is pierced through the base with small heart-shaped cutouts so water drains through; the toothbrush holder is solid-bottomed so it holds upright.
How it looks: A matching pair in chalky white glaze with the grey clay’s darker grit showing as fine flecks through the surface. The soap dish’s heart-shaped drainage cutouts double as decoration on the base.
Use it for:
- A matching bathroom set on a sink or shelf
- The soap dish doubling as a draining ring or jewellery rest at the end of the day
- The toothbrush holder used for makeup brushes on a dressing table
- Given as a wedding or housewarming gift for a first proper bathroom
- A Mother’s Day gift for someone setting up a calmer bathroom
A considered gift for someone moving into a first home or upgrading from a flat-pack bathroom — weddings, housewarmings, Mother’s Day, or simply because.
Care: Hand wash with mild soap; avoid soaking or dishwasher.
Size:
- Set of 2: pierced soap dish (heart-shaped drainage cutouts) + solid-bottomed toothbrush holder
- Dimensions available on request
- Handmade — small variations in flecking, shape and glaze are part of the character
