A mosaic ceramic heart magnet set — a single large heart made up of five smaller pieces in soft sea blues and white, hand-built in our Scottish studio.
The making: The heart shape is cut as a whole from grey clay, then sliced into five wedge pieces before firing. Each segment is glazed individually in a different shade — white, light cloud-blue, and deep navy — then bisque- and glaze-fired in the kiln. Magnets are glued to the back of each piece, so the heart can be assembled and reassembled on any magnetic surface.
How it looks: Five pieces that fit together into one 9 cm heart, glazed in a calm sea palette — chalk white, soft light blue, and a deeper cloud-night blue. The glaze is glossy enough to catch the light along the joins. Apart, the pieces read as five abstract ceramic shapes; together, the heart appears.
