A handmade ceramic bowl with a sand-textured green exterior and a melted blue seaglass interior base — coiled from white clay in our Scottish workshop.
The making: Built using the coiling technique — ropes of white rustic clay rolled by hand and stacked into a wide bowl. Real beach sand is pressed into the outer surface before the first firing, giving the exterior a gritty, beach-like texture. A green glaze is brushed across the surface where it pools darker over the sand. Blue seaglass is then placed inside the bowl and the whole piece is fired again so the glass melts and fuses into a pool at the base — reading like water sitting in sand. A protective layer of food-safe epoxy resin is added across the glass surface so it’s easy to wipe clean.
How it looks: A wide bowl with a sandy, mossy-green exterior that feels gritty to the touch. The interior base is a small lake of glossy blue glass — deeper toward the centre where the glass pooled thickest. Where the green glaze meets the sand it breaks into darker bottle-green tones; against the blue seaglass it reads as a tiny shoreline.
Use it for:
- A decorative centrepiece on a coastal-themed table or shelf
- Holding shells, sea-glass, or small stones gathered on walks
- As a key dish or trinket dish by the front door
- On a bathroom shelf with bath salts or soap stones

Care: Decorative only — not suitable for serving food. Wipe clean with a damp cloth; the epoxy resin is durable but not dishwasher-safe.
