A handmade tealight candle holder for three tealights, made from reclaimed 100-year-old rafter timber by our maker in Scotland.
The making: Cut from old rafter timber that had spent a century holding up a roof before being salvaged. The piece is shaped into a long bar with three tealight wells, and the edges are routed around to expose the inner wood — which creates a visible contrast between the weathered outer surface and the lighter wood inside. Finished with clear wax to keep the natural colour and grain visible. Indoor use only.
How it looks: A long rustic wooden bar with three tealight wells, where the routed edges read as a paler band running around the darker, more weathered face of the timber. The grain is open and the surface shows the age of the wood.
Use it for:
- A dinner-table centrepiece for a small supper
- On a low coffee table for a slow evening
- Lining a stone mantelpiece or hearth
- Halloween or autumn table without overtly themed decoration
- A housewarming gift for someone who values reclaimed materials
A considered gift for the person who notices materials — housewarmings, Christmas, or simply because.
Care: Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth; indoor use only because of the wax finish. Tealights not included.
Size:
- 30 cm long x 10 cm wide x 5 cm tall
- Holds 3 standard tealights
- Handmade from reclaimed 100-year-old rafter timber — grain and tone vary between pieces
