A commercial Dove beauty cream bar wrapped in pink wool felt with a yellow and blue flower, made by hand by Fabode’s mother in Scotland.
The making. A standard Dove beauty cream bar is wet-felted by Fabode’s mother in a wrap of pink wool fibres, working the wool tightly around the bar so it bonds with the soap as you use it. A small yellow and blue felted flower is set into the top of the wrap as a decorative detail. The Dove core inside is dermatologically tested.
How it looks and feels. The pink wool sits soft and slightly fuzzy in the hand — about the size and weight of a regular bar of soap, but warmer to the touch when dry. The yellow centre and blue petals of the small flower read clearly against the pink. In use, the felt itself becomes a gentle exfoliant against the skin, gives a better grip when soapy, and helps slow the bar down so it lasts longer than it would unwrapped.
Use it for:
- The main bar of soap at a bathroom sink or shower shelf
- A small added gift inside a birthday or Mother’s Day card
- A guest-room bathroom touch that’s prettier than supermarket packaging
- Stocking filler or hostess gift
- A child’s gentle introduction to a flannel-like soap they actually want to use
A considered gift for a mum, godmother, or friend who appreciates small useful objects done well — Mother’s Day, housewarmings, or simply because.
Let the bar dry between uses on a draining soap dish. The felt will shrink and tighten as the soap is used down.
Approximate bar size of a standard Dove beauty cream bar (around 100 g).
