A handmade soap dish built from grey clay studded with small black stones, finished in an off-white glaze that transitions to a soft blue underside, with heart-shaped drain holes.
The making: Hand-built in our garden shed in Scotland from grey clay with small black stones pressed into the body before firing. The dish is shaped by hand, three small hearts cut through the base for drainage, and finished in an off-white glaze on top that runs cooler towards a soft blue on the underside. Kiln-fired hard enough for daily bathroom use.
How it looks: Off-white across the surface where you set the soap, with a quieter blue tone running across the underside and rim — a small coastal shift in the glaze. The small black stones show as dark flecks beneath the surface. Heart-shaped drain holes reveal the grey clay at the cut edges.
Use it for:
- A bar of artisan soap by the bathroom basin or kitchen sink
- A small jewellery dish on a bedside table or dressing table
- A trinket dish in a hallway for keys, coins or a small candle
- A Mother’s Day or housewarming gift for someone with a quiet, modern bathroom
- A shower-side soap rest that actually drains
A considered gift for the friend with a slow, coastal aesthetic — Mother’s Day, housewarmings, or simply because.
Care: Hand wash with mild soap; avoid abrasive cleaners (they’ll scuff the glaze around the stones).

- Heart-shaped drainage holes
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
