A set of six small handmade ceramic cups in a rustic gold glaze — sized for shots, espresso, or a single tealight — slab-built in our Whitburn, Scotland studio by Zoltan.
The making: Each cup is hand-built from light brown stoneware clay using the slab technique — clay rolled flat, cut, then formed around a mould and joined by hand. The outside is carved with a tactile vertical texture before firing. After the first bisque firing, a rustic gold glaze is applied and the cups are fired a second time at high temperature. Every cup is signed with our maker’s mark on the base.
How it looks: A warm, slightly metallic gold glaze that moves between honey and burnt copper depending on the light. The walls are thick and softly ridged where the clay was carved, giving each cup weight in the hand. The interior is glazed smooth; the outside keeps the tactile texture of the carving.
Use it for:
- Serving spirits as small shot cups at a dinner party
- Pulling a single shot of espresso after lunch
- Holding a tealight on a mantelpiece or windowsill
- A small whisky or mezcal tasting flight
- Gifted to someone who collects handmade barware or stoneware
A considered gift for a coffee lover, a whisky drinker, or a friend setting up a new home — housewarmings, wedding gifts, or simply because.
Care: Hand wash with mild soap. Not dishwasher or microwave safe.

- Handmade — small variations in colour and texture are part of the character
