A handmade ceramic star garland in soft matte yellow, strung on jute — 11 small ceramic stars made from grey clay in our Scottish workshop.
The making: Each star is cut from a rolled slab of grey rustic clay, smoothed by hand, and fitted with a small metal hook before firing. After the first firing, a satin matte yellow glaze is brushed across each star and fired again. The Fabode mark is on the back of every piece. The eleven stars are strung along a single length of jute, evenly spaced.
How it looks: Eleven small five-point stars in a chalky satin yellow — not glossy, not chrome. The grey of the underlying clay shows softly where the glaze thins at the points, giving each star a hand-finished edge. The jute is the warm honey-brown of natural twine, so the whole garland reads soft rather than bright.
Use it for:
- Strung across a Christmas tree as a quieter alternative to tinsel
- Draped along a mantelpiece year-round, not just at Christmas
- Hung across a child’s bedroom doorway or above a cot
- Looped around a mirror or framed picture as a soft border
- Gifted to someone who likes seasonal decor that doesn’t shout
A considered gift for a friend who likes their winter decor calm and considered — Christmas, housewarmings, or simply because.
Care: Wipe stars gently with a dry cloth; keep jute string dry.
Size:
- Overall length: approximately 1.65 m (first star to last)
- Each star: 4 × 4 cm
- 11 stars total on jute string
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
