A small handmade oval soap dish in grey glaze with brown speckles and a raised-dot top, made from white clay in our Scottish workshop.
The making: Hand-built from white stoneware clay — shaped into a small oval base with a coil added all the way around to form a raised rim, then small dots pinched into the top so the soap sits up on points rather than in a puddle. Glazed in soft grey with naturally occurring brown speckles, then kiln-fired. No drainage holes on the underside, so it doesn’t drip through to your sink or shelf.
How it looks: A small oval cradle in a soft grey-mist glaze with darker brown speckles scattered across it. The raised dot pattern across the top reads almost like a tactile braille from above. A neat, quiet piece — not loud, just well-made.
Use it for:
- By the bathroom sink for a proper bar of soap
- By the kitchen sink for handwash soap
- In a guest bathroom paired with a small handmade bar
- As a jewellery dish on a bedside table or by the bath
- Gifted to someone who has just switched from pump bottles to bar soap
A considered small gift for a friend’s birthday, a new-home present, or a stocking filler for someone who lives in handmade ceramics — housewarmings, birthdays, or simply because.
Care: Hand wash; pour out any standing water before refilling. No drainage holes — wipe the underside occasionally.
Size:
- Small oval — dimensions available on request
- Handmade — small variations are part of the character
